Techgirl do you have the money to pay for application fees?
@austinmshauri I do think the Military is a great option for paying for college. The Army and Marines are not the only branches of the Military. A young person can join the Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard - serve for 4 years and earn the GI Bill. My husband, father, father in law and many more family members have all served. I also know several recent high school grads who have enlisted and are doing well.
@Dragonflygarden, There are a lot of vets in my family too. However, the military is a job, and it can be a dangerous one. Nobody should join the military unless s/he is called to that particular vocation. For those people, the military is a good way to pay for college. For those who wouldn’t consider it if they could pay for college some other way, it’s not. We shouldn’t be suggesting to 17-year-olds that putting their lives on the line to pay for college is a good idea.
