Difficult to get accepted?

I'm an international student (from Spain) who is applying for Master in Public Policy, MPA and Urban and Regional Policy.
This is my overall profile:

GPA 2.98 (The bachelor degree is 5 years long here)
Got minimum require TOEFL score for all schools.
GRE: Q 560 V 330 AW 3.0 (I know, my verbal is reaally low ) I only had 1 chance and got 3 weeks of preparation.
My letters of recommendations are very strong.
I've been doing voluntary work for 4 year and been travelling a lot because of that, was having lots of responsability and its related to my field.
I've been working since I'm 18.
I'm working very hard in my Personal Statement. (not finish yet).

Im applying to: Northeastern Univesity (1Feb), NYU (15Jan), University of Chicago , Loyola University-Chicago(15feb), American University (1Feb/1Jun), Georgetown (15Jan/1Apr) and George Washington University (15Jan).

Sincerely I think I have chances to get in 1 or 2 of the schools mentioned above (I have a plan B in case I don’t get accepted). I think I have more chances in Loyola and American University. But because my overall profiles is good, not my GRE, and my GPA is just ok. What do you think?

Cheers

PS: Deadlines. 15feb, Should I retake the exam?, even I already notify them my exam results.

Your GPA is not that good since you’re not in the science/engineering/technology field and your overall GRE seems to be at the same level.

Dunno about acceptance in your close field, have a look on Petersons or UsNews.

Work hard on your SOP, have great RECs and cross your fingers!!!

It seems hard to get in at UChicago, GWU, Georgetown, NYU…

Anyway Good Luck!

(You can always take a year off, improve your GRE, TOEFL and have a work experience in your field)

:)

Thanks ghionus. A year off is not in my plans cose I’m already doing something similar to that this year. My LoRs and PS are very good, so hopefully I will make in through one of the universities I’m applying.
My doubt is about applying to late deadline in order to retake the GRE, but if I do that I wont have the chance to apply other universities if I get a NO from all the ones I’m applying now (because I will have a respond from them too late).

Cheers

Here is the MPA page for Northeastern University: [Master of Public Administration](http://www.polisci.neu.edu/graduate/master_public/#Admission)

And here is one for Loyola: [Loyola University Chicago- Application Requirements and Deadlines](http://luc.edu/gradschool/mppmaua_application.shtml)

NU states that a minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred, and if your GPA is below that, taking the GRE would help supplement it. However, your GRE scores are not high enough to make up for your GPA. Hopefully the work you have been doing involved A LOT of public policy. Loyola seems to be your best shot at getting in, though.

Is there anyway for you to apply now and then give the schools an updated GRE when you take it again?
