There’s no “dilemma”. Take what interests you, and don’t worry about the GPA. Either is plenty rigorous.
Not enough information to discuss… Is rank based on weighted or unweighted GPA? Does the school rank at all? Why is one fine art worth 4.5 and one worth 4.0? How many APs have they taken in the past and how much did it stress them out?
I’m talking about weighted GPA on a scale of 5.0. School does rank and fine arts credits aren’t exempted, they do matter. Student took 1 5.0 AP in 9th and 2 in 10th, foreign language and fine arts were 4.0 while rest were PAP/honors 4.5. It’s hard to say how many AP’s student can handle without stress, but he is a hard worker. Fine art classes are easy but performances and rehearsals are time consuming.
