St Norbert just completed construction of a new science / medical complex this autumn. My son will be applying. Does anyone have direct knowledge of the college’s academic reputation and campus culture. I’ve heard it has a good local reputation and know an alumnus (now Dr. X) who strongly recommends it for science. We would appreciate more input. Thank you.
My daughter and I toured the new science building this summer and were very impressed. I don’t have direct knowledge of the chemistry department, but I have nieces who attend (one is currently studying in Italy) and love it. We’ve toured many campuses over the last year, but St. Norbert stands out for its welcoming atmosphere–we walked through campus on a Sunday and ran into a biology professor who immediately offered to give us a tour of the new facility.
There seem to be a lot of internship opportunities. I also like the emphasis on community service–not so much as an extra curricular activity, but more as a natural facet of daily life. The first semester “Gap Experience” is intriguing. And of course, the campus is beautiful! My daughter is applying for biology.
St. Norbert is a really nice college. Not a lot of recognition, but I’ve heard good feedback from students who have gone there. It will definitely get your son a nice job in Wisconsin if that’s what he’s okay with.
St. Norbert’s Common Data Set indicates that 16% of the freshmen who started in Fall 2013 did not return for their sophomore year. It would be helpful to know why-that seem like a high rate of attrition to me.
