Discouraged over SAT Subject Test Results

BC is one of my top choices. I love Boston, in general, and I admire the Jesuit philosophy of education. Until I received my subject test results, I thought that I had a fair chance of getting in. Now, I am frustrated. I attend the best public H.S. in Utah. My unweighted GPA is ~3.7. I have taken 12 AP classes. My weighted GPS is over 4.0. I have never received less than a B in any class, and I have never received more than 2 Bs during any marking period. I have taken the SAT 1x (670 CR, 660 M, 630Writing). For the past 4 years, I have constantly volunteered with mentally/physically and/or financially challenged children, thru my church, the local art non-profit, and The National Ability Center. Also, during the winter months of the past four years, I have worked as a ski instructor/instructor’s assistant at Snowbird and Deer Valley. I am an AP Scholar and a National Merit Scholar. I have applied REA to the School of A&S. Now, the bad part: 600 Math 2 and 600 German SAT Subject test. Am I totally screwed?

2 other things: I am catholic; and I am not going to take anymore tests.

Any thoughts on this? Even if not on my case, specifically, thoughts on fairly good stats, except Subject tests? Thoughts on acceptance of students from say Utah, Montana or other “not-so-represented” States getting into east coast schools? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Your scores won’t keep you out. You additional essay will be critical.

btw: with all those AP courses, could you not find a Subject Test other than German to take?

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been speaking German in the house forever. I’ve taken German courses in Berlin each of the past 3 summers. With 5 AP classes this year, I’m swamped. I thought the exam would be a no brainer without really studying. Yada Yada. I told myself that I would take the SAT 1x, and 2 subject tests. Although I have already been accepted into UVM and U. of Utah, I would like the opportunity to be an Eagle. Fingers crossed.

For the admitted students for 2016, the BC Factbook shows the middle 50% SAT1 range to be 1930 - 2150.

SAT scores aren’t everything, but your 1960 (close to the 25% range) means you’ll need some strong points elsewhere in your application to compensate.

Thank you for replying. I realize that. I have reviewed all of the objective facts (SAT, GPA, etc.), but I could find nothing on BC’s SAT II score percentiles. Right now, I think that my SAT I, GPA, class rank, course strength, work experience and community service keep me in the loop. I hope that my Common App Essay and Servicing Others essay take me over the top. Like most people who post here, I think that my essays are very strong. I just hope that the Admission Committee feels the same way. Oh well, I will know the answer to that soon enough.

most schools don’t publish ST scores, but you can assume that they are similar to that of the SAT, i.e., ~650+ for the unhooked.
