Discrepancy between Commonapp essays and Counselor Letter of Recommendation

I’m a senior applying/applied to HYPSM and other schools and my counselor gave me a copy of his recommendation letter that he had already submitted through the Commonapp.

I play used to play badminton competitively but suffered a wrist injury which meant that I still play badminton, but not competitively. Playing badminton and what it has taught me has been a fairly significant theme throughout my supplement essays and questions.

However, my counselor wrote this: “[my name] used to play competitive badminton. He won [accolades etc.]”
The accolades he mentions are all mentioned in my Commonapp too. However, I’m worried this gives the impression that I stopped playing badminton (which I haven’t), and am therefore lying in my supplement about me still playing badminton and entering the odd tournament now and then. Would this sort of discrepancy raise a red flag to admissions? Or would they think that either my guidance counselor doesn’t know about my ECs in too much detail, or that I stopped playing badminton competitively but still play it for fun/exercise?

This might be a triviality but want to make sure!

Maybe in the additional information section you mention your injury, and that you are still playing (because you love it), but are no longer competitive because of the injury ?

You say, “used to play badminton competitively…I still play badminton, but not competitively.”

The counselor says, “used to play competitive badminton.”

I’m missing the difference. Agree with BTMSC98 to put one line in Addl Info that you no longer officially compete due to injury but continue to play. This isn’t a showstopper and you may be overworrying.

You read your counselors LOR? Is this allowed? I thought it wasn’t thats way I’m asking.

Agree, this is not that big of a deal. Your decision on admit/deny is not going to be made on whether you still play competitive badminton.
