I know that when competing for admission for Top schools (Ivies and other near Ivies) that EC's carry a lot of weight, but do college admissions officers consider in course load and how many EC's participated in.

By the end of my senior year i will have taken at least 10 AP classes, (3 soph, 4 junior, 3-4 senior). Basically my courseload will be quite rigorous. My EC's however are pretty much confined to Debate, Scholastic Bowl, Theater, Volunteering, JV football and maybe Varsity Tennis. So back to my question, at the Ivy levels would the fact that my courseload was rigorous make up for the fact that i don't have stellar EC's or would they still expect even greater EC', keep in mind that i have done these EC' all for at least 3 years, and have won regional awards in Debate, Scho Bowl, and Theater.

To me i seriously don't see where i could fit in more activities with the amount of homework that gets dumped on me, and feel that colleges should at least realize that, but hey i also get that it is the Ivy level and that they can expect whatever they want.

yeah that’s what i am talking about, are there really that large of a population with upwards of 10 AP’s and stellar EC’s, from my time here on CC i have seen mainly people with 5-6 AP’s by the end of their senior year. Maybe it is just my school and pace of working but to me, i can’t do much more than what i am doing now.

you’ve only seen people with 5-6 APs by end of senior year here? Most kids take 6 or more(if possible) senior year. CC is definitely skewed for observations, but there are a lot of kids with >10 APs and ECs. Theres thousands of National AP scholars

10 APs (and presumably good grades in them) ALONE won’t get you into the top-top schools, especially if you don’t have URM or legacy status. They’ll likely get you waitlisted.

The lesser ivies and similar privates/publics will quite happily pick up your scrapes. You should do fine. Plus you actually have solid ECs.
