Do Adcoms know who the last person to be admitted from a certain high school was?

T26E4, I think you’re in a way acknowledging the point Polyglot is making---- “Certainly they would draw upon knowledge of the school, perhaps based on prior applicants.” If a school has very few past applicants, then to get some context for the application, the adcom no doubt will want to take a look at the very limited information they do have, which goes back to the information from the last admitted student. Yes, the applicant is only compared to the current pool of students in competiting for a spot in the freshman class, but info on past admitted students may be used to give a sense of context in cases where the adcom is not familiar with the school…

Just speculating here.

v LOL :D!! I think Polyglot is a current student though. We’re not so wise yet as T23E4, who’s the alum.

(for fun) Now, Polyglot you are a Harvard alum right? And T26E4, you are a Yale alum, correct? I’d like to make this fact clear so that people can take sides and root you on! Polyglot, you have the homefield advantage right now. Therefore, i think you will win the argument.

Seriously, though, the op made this thread entitled "Do Adcoms know who the last person to be admitted from a certain high school was? " which implies that if the Harvard adcom could compare the op against the last Harvard acceptee from op’s highschool.

I’m very with T26E4 on this. Would the candidate from nine years ago offer any valid edge in decision making? No. Therefore, although they probably know when the last candidate from a given school was admitted, I do not believe that this factors in heavily, nor that they are comparing a candidate from an unusual school with age old candidates from the same school. HOWEVER, I do believe that if they accepted students last year from XYZ and they all went to Yale, the school may be penalized.

Hold on a minute now. So, T23E4 is a harvard alum and T26E4 is a Yale alum? Man, this board is confusing… because I KNOW T26E4 is a yale alum and s/he makes many informative posts for you young people!

Haha, now you’re just making fun of me for my typos :D! It’s the same person, who’s the Yale alum. I mistyped. You can blame the helpful and informative T26E4 for having such a hard-to-remember name.

That’s not good. You want it to fall on the desks of the admissions office at least.

An international applicant from Asia is from an Asian continent or island. If s/he goes to school in US then it should be somewhere between Asia and USA which will be the pacific ocean.

Seriously though, an International who goes to US highschools are considered International applicant although s/he may be evaluated with other domestic applicant. So, admission decision wise, it will be Domestic; for finaid wise, it will be International. I had a relative who was exactly in this situation and she was processed this way.
