I wouldn’t be surprised if some smaller schools check to see how a student who is the first enrolled from a particular high school did at the college to get a read on the quality of said high school.
No, it doesn’t all rest on your shoulders. They would need more of a sample size than that! Don’t worry, and good luck.
The most important thing is to learn from this experience so you can improve your performance going forward. Understand that college is a whole new level and even if you feel the material is “boring” you must attend class, do assignments, and study for exams in order to do your best. Nobody will make sure you do these things – you must be self-motivated. There are no shortcuts. I hope that this experience will make you a stronger student in the long-run.
As an aside, if you plan to become an econ major you may need to take intro. to economics for a grade (rather than P/NC) so talk to your advisor and create a plan to move forward and get all the classes you need for your intended major.
Once students matriculate, any number of things unrelated to their HS self and/or application can affect their performance.
