Do applicants get physical letters of acceptance/rejection?

I'm curious if we still get physical letters sent out to us, along with a package of info on financial aid, housing, etc... if we have been accepted?

Personally, I would really like to have a letter to keep but people who I know that have been accepted have not received anything in the mail yet; they just get info from their student portal.

Has anyone here received an actual letter?

I just received an acceptance letter in the mail from UC Irvine today.

Based on my experiences last year, I received a physical letter from all of the schools I got accepted to.

The online decisions are usually posted first, but the snail mail version will appear eventually. I got physical letters (usually big ones, lots of papers and stuff) from all the UCs I applied to a couple years ago.

Acceptance letters are large envelopes. Rejection letters are regular sized envelopes.

I’ve kept all my letters

I’ve never got any rejection mails before…

Thanks @Cayton and @xcballin. Good to know that letters are still sent.

@Cayton did you get your financial aid packet with the letter or is it view-able online?

@failure622 what were all the papers? Where they forms or just info?

Now I’m going to freak out every time I see a regular sized envelope @Philosoup :p

@AnthroFlo

There’s no financial aid packet in the mail, nor is it online yet. I think I have to SIR or wait a little while before they generate one for me. I don’t know. :/

@Cayton

Seriously? Such a big part of my decision is where I can actually afford to go and I won’t know where I can afford to go if they don’t tell me how much they can give me in aid :frowning:

What else was in your acceptance letter/packet?
Was it just standard information, things to fill out, or did it have any personalized information?
Haha, I am so nosy but I won’t hear back from any school for a while and my impatience is getting the better of me.

@AnthroFlo

There was stuff regarding the SIR, of course, and the conditions of my admission(Must maintain a certain GPA, don’t drop any classes and then fail to notify them, etc.). I was offered a Regents’ scholarship by UCI because my GPA was above 3.8. I believe you said once that your GPA was 4.0 or something. If so, you may qualify for Regents’ scholarships at UCLA, Cal, and definitely UCI(If you applied to UCI). That’ll make college a little more affordable.

I know it’s tough to wait, but you gotta do it. Just hang in there. We all have to. ;)

@cayton

Doesn’t seem like the info I was expecting to be in the packet is actually in there…
Oh well, fingers crossed that they send out financial aid info before SIRs are due because while a regents scholarship is flippin amazing I’m pretty sure I’m going to need a bit more for college to be feasible, in terms of cost anyway.

I don’t like to bank on anything because of my GPA, I’ve known and heard of people with stellar GPAs who just don’t make the cut.

True, my patience is wearing thin but I’ve just got to try and not let it get to me… haha, I’m letting this stress me out way too much.

You will see your financial aid package online before June 1, which is the last day to submit SIR.

Thanks for the info @karduz!

In my experience, the UC’s don’t send out rejection letters. Other schools do, but I’ve never heard of anyone nor have I, myself, received a rejection letter as a UC transfer applicant. If you’ve been rejected it’s usually only posted online at the UC portal or decision page. You will get an admission packet in the mail if you’re accepted to a UC.

@Cayton they send u their financial aid letters before you SIR, they send them out a little later.

So the physical letters of acceptance do not contain financial aid packets??

@Matt4200 Nope it comes later through email or it’s on the school portal I believe.

@Philosoup

I see. Thanks for the info, man!

@Cayton did you get an email from Irvine prior to the physical letter or did you just get the letter unexpectedly? I am still waiting for that email!

@ccnube

I received an email telling me to check my applicant portal. The letter came about a week later.
