Do colleges care that I played a musical instrument for eight years?

I've been playing the Indian instrument Tabla for eight years now and I got a Distinction in Theory (Highest score you can get on the written test). I've played at local functions and religious events since I was 9.

Is this something I should put on my college resume? I'm not interested in pursuing a music major. Thanks.

Yes, it definitely is. Colleges are interested in seeing the many facets of an applicant’s life, so describing your interest in music will NEVER hurt you; in fact, it will usually benefit you.

YES!
They love seeing that you have a passion for it and continued something for a while, without giving up.
And especially since it’s a unique instrument…
