Do colleges care where you were born?

I was wondering where someone is born has any effect on someone's application. In my case I was born in Saudi Arabia, and I know this isn't very common, so is it some type of geographic diversity?

Why should it? Do you think it confers some advantage? College admissions is hard enough with the variables they weigh. The serendipity of where your mom decided to birth you would be ridiculous to weigh -- unless it were the Shire or Vulcan or something.

i dnt believe it makes a difference.

mostly bc if u think about it, its something you dnt control. as T26E4 said, just because your mother had the chance to give birth to you in a foreign (and interesting for that matter) country, shouldnt give u an unfair advantage.

but you could certainly use your saudi heritage or experience (if any) in your application to show diversity. but again the simple fact that you were born there does not make a difference.
actually colleges receive several applications from wealthy saudi applicants. (my father told me about a whole community of saudis he was friends with when he went to college)

It might make a good talking point if you were born in that school's hospital. The only talking point I had for one school was the fact that my brothers and I were born there.
