Do colleges give credits for APs taken in 9th grade?

obtain both a baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree simultaneously.

I hope it counts considering I took AP Human Geography in 9th grade and made a 4 on the exam.

At my school, we can't even take APs before Junior year...

I hate to break it to you, but if you're applying to a top-tier school, this won't help at all. First of all, it's AP Human Geography, which is famous for being possibly the least rigorous AP test of all, and second, it's a 4, which isn't too impressive to a highly selective university.

Kick 'em and kick 'em hard.........there is no need to be mean. It says nothing good about you.

I think JeebusMS was asking whether the 4 on the exam could be used to get him out of taking having to take some college requirement. Yes, it would, apparently, but it is possible that some colleges won't take it. They are able to do whatever they want.

Also I don't think the question was about whether or not taking AP Human Geography was going to help him get into Harvard or not.

LMAO, no that's not the case at all. I just want it to count so I get more college credit. :) That's all.

I suppose somebody getting a 5 on the exam after completing the course in 9th grade must indicate something

Namely, that you know the material covered in the course.

If nothing else there is a 4-hour lab each week in college

There's lab periods in APBio in my school. And if you don't need it to get a 5 on teh AP test, then what's the deal?

It is hard to imagine that a high school can teach the equivalent of a college class in ninth grade. On the other hand, I agree with genesis.

AP Stat as an 8th grader; got a 5 on the AP test... why would that not be the equivalent again? Simply because you say it isn't?

Jeeb:

some schools will provide credit for a 3 or 4, but schools like Harvard limit college credit to 5's. Also, colleges only provide credit if they offer a similar course....if they don't offer a human geography course, then a 5 would not earn credit.

sonatax,
Please read post #14. I don't think that the score on a test indicates everything. If you don't see the difference between taking a course in ninth grade and a college course like intro Bio/Chem where people are studying at least 15 hours a week on the single course and taking a four hour lab each week, then we just have to disagree.

I have a math degree and the AP Stat course doesn't require Calculus as a pre-req. It is basically the statistics course for non-math and science majors. (Engineers don't take statistics.) If a history or English major wants to use it to satisfy their single math credit, then no harm is done. It won't substitute as a higher level math course that would count as a graduation credit for math/science majors.

It is true that the AP courses are for the whole year while the college course that it would substitute for is a semester.
