Junior year my schedule will be,
AP Chem
AP English
AP Psych (semester 2) (semester 1 - wood)
Honors Chem
Spanish 3 Honors
Athletic Training II
Math Analysis CP
Instead of taking wood, a class that I do not really need to take (have all credits fulfilled), I was thinking about taking a free period. Does it look bad?

If you can fill the class with another rigorous course, then it would be best to do it but I highly doubt one is available (considering that it has to be a semester long course).
I would say it’s fine. One class that you take/not take will have infinitesimal chances on your acceptance.
Dude, stop freaking out. Adcoms aren’t evil you know. Free period is fine. They don’t see it anyway. Last year, I had free period. I had four free periods per week and I’ve gotten 10/11 acceptances. Don’t freak out.
dude i had 2 frees my senior year in a row and 1 if not 2 frees also my junior year; quality over quantity.
colleges won’t accept you if you jam your schedule with no frees if you just do so-so or if they are all easy class. take the hard classes and take your frees.
if a school is not admitting you because you are taking free periods then I wouldn’t go to that school period
My kids’ secondary school generally required a free each term, so that students could schedule consultations with teachers, etc.
In order to be competitive for “top schools”, the admissions committees expect students to take the most rigorous program available. If you choose to take free periods, they will take that into account and rank your application accordingly.
If your GC checks the “most rigorous” box on the Secondary School Report, you can have as many free periods as can fit, and no admissions officer will bat an eye. Like @woogzmama 's kids, I don’t have an option; I have to have a free period in my schedule.
I suppose the other possibility is for the applications committee to question the judgment of the GC. That must have happened before.
take the free period. you will need the time to do homework with that class load.
admins DONT see your actual schedule, only which classes you take.
