Do graduate school adcom look at which college you went?

My first two choices of school are USC and UCLA (Berkeley is too far away from where I live, and it totally ruins my family plan).

However, after studying the Marshall Business program of USC, I kinda fell in love with it so my mind is slightly tilted toward USC. But it's not totally made up yet.

Anyway.
One thing I'm worried about is, let's say I choose USC and graduate.
I'm not at all worried about getting a job cuz USC has a superb alumni networking system.

However, when I apply to a top-class business grad school such as Wharton, will they look at which school I went for the undergrad and put that into consideration for my admission?

Although USC may dominate in southern cali in the field of business, i doubt it's as well-reputed and recognized as UCLA nationally and globally. So in Wharton's point of view, they'll think UCLA's better and more prestigious than USC (since Wharton's in the East coast). Will that actually hurt my chance of getting into the Wharton's Business program?

Also, do Ivy graduate schools care whether I transferred from cc in my junior year? Some people say the Ivys look down on cc transfer students and are less likely to admit them. Is this true?

maybe i should post this in the MBA forum.

i don't know about cc transfers, but wharton will definitely take into account what your undergrad school was.

Someone once posted a pdf file of Wharton admits for their MBA program (forgot which year this was for) and it listed the universities that were most represented. If I remember correctly Harvard and Upenn had 50 grads in the program and UCLA had like 15 grads admitted to the program. Anyway, the list ended with UCLA close to the bottom (I think third from last) and USC wasn't on that list. Excluding Penn State which was actually on that list, it seemed as if the most prestigious universities were listed and there was a proportion between the prestige of the institution and grads admitted to the program.

I believe this is true when community college students apply to transfer as juniors to Ivy League schools but not for graduate school admissions.

If you go to a community college, get a top GPA, transfer to a great university and still get a top GPA (like 3.75+) in a rigorous major, don't you think that having done that will prove that you're not stupid? Furthermore, if you get top GMAT or GRE scores (700+) and get lots of work experience in a great position at a great financial company, do you think anyone is going to give a $h!t that you attended community college? I bet the first thing that they'll think is that you attended community college for financial reasons.
