I had good grades freshman and sophomore year, (all As and A+s in the hardest classes at my school), but this year my grades aren't as great. I am taking more APs than any other junior at my school but I unfortunately managed to get B+s in 3 classes. In the other course I took I got As/A+s. I have great extracurriculars and I will have one "good" recommendation and one really really great one. I'm also taking a few more AP courses this summer to get ahead. I'm working on my essays this summer and I would think/hope that they will be pretty good. I am hoping to get my SAT scores up. The first time I took them I got a 2100, but I'll have to wait a few more days for my new scores to come back and see if I improved. I anticipate good, but not great SAT 2 scores.

Do I have a shot? You can be honest. Trust me, I can take it. I am worried that my grades have dropped too much junior year which is NOT good, but I'm still wondering if its worth applying and if there is a chance there.
THANK YOU!

1) You should calm down and try to finish up high school with a little bit of fun.
2) You will have NO chance if you don’t apply at all.
3) Most people on here are students, parents, alumni, (with the exception of AdmissionsDaniel) and they have no control over whether or not you’ll get in. You don’t know for sure until you get your decision.
4) Honestly, you REALLY don’t need to be a 4.0 student, star of the NBA, PI of a cancer lab, and you don’t need to cure cancer to get into Hopkins.

Just try your best, and JUST APPLY. When I was in high school, I slacked off in jr year too, skipped a whole bunch of classes and my grades dropped dramatically. My friend gave me the same advice I’m trying to give you now, he said “the worse that can happen is they reject you, so what?”. So I applied early decision, and guess what? I GOT IN! Don’t NOT apply simply because someone you’ve never met tells you they think you won’t get in.

Thanks. I think I gave you the wrong idea though. I am just curious as to what you all think my chances might be. I’m not even sure yet if JH is a good fit for me. I don’t think I’m as stressed out as I come off to be. Your advice was good though, and I’m glad you ended up at a school that you love.
