Do I have a chance at Georgetown? I'm not one of those annoying perfect kids btw.

Don't know if this matters, but:

Will graduate hs will a hs diploma and associates (bc I'm in early college)

I am not proud of my GPA. It is a 2.5 so far, and I am going to be a senior in HS this upcoming fall. My SAT score is pretty horrible too (1580) and my ACT diagnostic was a 30. I'm going to take the real ACT next month and honestly think I will score above a 30 since I'm actually prepping for it. I think my common app essay is pretty powerful and well-written as well as passionate. I just want to know my chances of getting in. I know it's probably zero, but I'd like to hear it better coming from an actual Georgetown University alumni or associate. I go to Bard High School Early College btw, so idk if that counts for anything. (Half college, half high school, and pretty competitive). I also have a good amount of extra-curriculars. (Figure skating for 4 years, tennis for 3 (playing on the varsity team for 3 yrs), volleyball league for a year, leadership program for half a year, tutoring children for a year, and working at an aquarium for a year and currently). I want to major in either business, psychology, biology, or nursing.

I would also like to know if Georgetown accepts transfer students from community colleges? That was going to be my alternative... Going to a community college for a semester or two, getting my GPA up to a 4.0 and transferring.

Please just tell me if that's even possible and if I have any chance at this school? It's honestly my dream school.

You don’t with a 2.5. Like that needs to go up ALOT. Like at least 3.6 or 3.7. If you want to go to a better college I think you should go to community college first. It saves money and you end up going to a better college (if you do well).

With a 2.5 it’s VERY slim. Also, even if you got a 30 on the ACT that’s slightly below average for Georgetown.

Also your EC’s are average/below average for Georgetown. Lots of people at Georgetown have won national awards/competitions, etc etc

If you went the CC route, I think (if you do well) you’d have a much wider selection of schools to choose from. A 30 on the ACT (if you get it) opens a lot of doors if accompanied by the right GPA.

Best of luck in the admissions process!

So if I go to a community college, and say get A’s in every class, will I have a good chance of getting in? Like will they consider me despite my terrible high school GPA?

I think (at least for me) the transfer admissions process is sort of a crapshoot. The common knowledge is that if you perform better in CC, you’ll have better chances of getting in. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’lll have a “good” chance.

Regardless:
study your ass off senior year to show some improvement. regardless of whether you get in or not, pushing yourself even further and improving your study habits will carry you through cc or wherever you end up. Best of luck!

Which gtown program did you plan on applying to btw?
