I am a sophomore in highschool and would like to know if I have an inkling of a chance of getting into an Ivy League school.
My freshman courses were:
-Geometry Honors (A)
-World History Honors (A)
-Technology Engineering & Design (A)
-French I (A)
-Psychology Honors (A) -- online
-Algebra II Honors (A)
-Biology Honors (A)
-English I Honors (A)
-Health/Gym (A)
-French II (A) -- online

I also play two sports, volunteer at the school, hospital, and around the community, am a math tutor, in Boy Scouts, on the USA Climbing Team, envolved in 5 school clubs, and first in my class. If I keep advancing my course load each year and make all a's, is it possible for me to be accepted into an Ivy?

You seem to have good grades and a good variety of ECs. Shoot for some leadership positions and make sure you study hard for your SAT/ACTs, and I think you would have a decent (if not good) chance.

You sound like an amazing candidate, and although the admissions process is EXTREMELY random, the ivies would be lucky to have you. If anyone posts otherwise, don’t let it get you down. I posted a similar thread and pretty much got the ***** kicked out of me for wanting to go to any ivy leagues (apparently I was being blinded by the allure of the ivies). Good luck to you, I’m sure you’ll do just fine!

One year of grades is not nearly enough information to determine whether or not you have “a chance.” But based on your first year, you seem to be on the right track.

Good luck!

Btw, galgal27, I wouldn’t call the admissions process “extremely random…”

Yep yep. I didn’t mean to bring down your hopes or anything. You’re actually doing a great job (better than I was). It’s just that NO ONE ever knows if they’ll get into the Ivies. But you seem to be on the right track. Don’t spend too much time on CC either. People here can be a little negative sometimes.
