White female iowa
I'm going to be a junior next year and am thinking about an archaeology or anthropology major.
I plan on taking two ap's for senior year.
I haven't taken the sat's yet..
Active band member, jazz band 4 years, saxophone and piano lessons, in a shakespear every summer for 3 years so far, I might go on an archaeological dig to spain next summer, member of iowa archaeological society, gay straight alliance club, film club, summer french
GPA's around 3.7/3.8
I guess my real question is more like, what would I need to have a good chance at Oberlin? Carleton? Grinnell?

A decent SAT score (2050+ should do it). Good essay. Other ways to demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills, if possible.
To answer your original question- Yes, you always have a chance.

I’m not so sure about the other schools on your list, but Oberlin I know is tough to get in. You’ll need good SAT/ACT.

You have a very good shot at getting in.
But:
You may want to consider taking more APs your senior year(unless you’re in the IB program and going for the diploma)You seem qualified enough, but quite honestly you have to do a lot more if you want to catch the attention of admissions.
Try to raise that GPA a bit(couldn’t hurt).I had similiar activities under my belt…but that was by sophomore year in high school.Even after having a 33 ACT and a health reform internship in Switzerland,I still didn’t get in my senior year.Luckily,I was able to convince admissions the 2nd time around and got in as a transfer(but that was after having a 4.0 and an internship on capitol hill)
Hope this doesn’t scare you,but the people that you will be up against are going to be just as qualified and even more so.So try your hardest to get amazing grades your upcoming year, and truly have a stellar essay that will knock your socks off.
Good luck!

I meant their socks off…
But,I’m guessing you got the point.
