Do I have a shot at a top school or should i skip to college now??

Excuse me, but I have to disagree. I'm homeschooled. I find many people in highschools immature and underdeveloped, often scarred by certain people. My best friends are either in college or graduating this year, and I'm a sophomore- and I started school early. Clearly I must have learned to mature some other way.

most homeschooled kids dont have a great personality they are very boring....you might not be but thats 1/100,000,000.

A. How many homeschooled kids have you met?

B. I'd have to agree with you. Most are. But most are also homeschooled for all the wrong reasons (one homeschooling mother- "They teach Darwinism at public schools!"), and also fail to get their kids into social situations.

But, ElCommando, the next time you walk into your school, take a look around. How many of those kids are anything but insecure, boring, pandering to anything that will make them feel wanted and secure? I think you'll see very, very few. High school is HARDLY social heaven. Come on!

In conclusion- dont stay in a school because of the social life. Look at your own academic potential, and see where you want to go in life. And if you want to go far, stay in high school and go to an Ivy League.

I shadowed a girl in the academy last week and found out there are 100 kids at the school right now who started two years early and they all love it. All of the kids I met are extreamly nice and none of them have social problems because they all have eachother. I'm glad you understand...I'm starting to hope I get in.

Applied as sophomore through special UW Academy program

Honey, I would definitely wait if I were you. I was in a same situation as you, but decided to skip it. High school and life is just too short to skip like that. You are young, and have your WHOLE life ahead of you. Trust me, or us, on this one. High school years are just too important to growth and development to give up like that. You will enjoy your junior/senior life very much, including friends, parties, more awards, more honors, more life experiences...

Im only 17, but understand when parents say, "Ah, remember those days..?" You should cherish your life. :)

My S was considering applying as you are but wanted to go to another selective U. We spoke with the Dean of Admissions who said that if my S were to enroll at UW Honors the best thing to do would be to apply as a freshman. His chances were better that way than they would be as a transfer student. I have known many students who have gone into the program at the end of their sophomore year, all have loved it. They also have a program for students after 7th or 8th grade, the reviews there have been a little more mixed, but still overall positive.

You could have friends, I am a Junior now and I have lots of friends who are in college. I would still think you should wait, even if you're just waiting to go to UW later.

post in ur own thread loser/moocher

haha, elcommando, i know you are burning with jealousy at his stats.
