Do I have a shot at Stanford?

Hi guys! I am a junior at a small high school in the Florida Keys and I was wondering if I have a shot at getting into Stanford. My SAT scores are 670 reading 770 math 630 writing. Composite is a 2070. I am ranked 4/196 and i pretty much get straight A’s in AP classes. I know that does not guarantee anything as Stanford takes a look at the application holistically. I would like to major in biology. I will just list my EC’s so they are easy to read

2 yrs Varsity Soccer
2 yrs Varsity Track
Spearfishing Club
Environmental Club
NHS
Chess Club
Science Honor Society
Mu Alpha Theta Math Club

I have a passion for the ocean and I am an avid fisherman. I have a youtube channel and everything. Would putting the link to one of my fishing videos be good for an application? Over the summer I worked with the Coral Restoration Foundation to help restore staghorn and elkhorn corals. I plan to be an intern for them this summer as well. I am also going to Tallahassee over the summer to do Boys State. Only a handful of students get selected and we get to participate in activities with the Florida government. Any help on getting into Stanford will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Stanford is a Reach for every applicant, but you will need to bump your SAT score to have a chance. Your Math score looks good, but you need to get the reading score into the 700+ range.

What will make you memorable to the admissions committee?

Could I write about Swordfishing my myself 40 miles offshore in one of my essays?

If you really tell the story well

Realistically, with those numbers and resume, no chance.

There’s no harm in applying, besides the application fee. But the above is right; you have almost no chance.

if you apply early, the above is false. I know someone who got in with a 1940. just stand out. “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” don’t get discouraged

Although it has a very low acceptance rate I believe Stanford does look at the overall person. Each person is unique. You need to know what yours is and accentuate it. Go for it.

Your uniqueness is. I meant to say.
