I have a 30 composite on ACT (31 if you superscore). I got a 35 on english, 30 on reading, 28 on math, and 30 on science. My GPA is high and I got 5s on my AP exams for English Language and U.S. History last year. This year I’m going to take four AP classes (I was going to take five but my schedule wouldn’t allow it). I play double bass in a competitive orchestra, but since USC has a reputable conservatory, I don’t know if this will help my application. I want to double major in history and music performance. It’s my dream school, but should I even apply?
More info would be nice. GPA? SAT?
How does your ACT and UW GPA compare to last years admitted Freshman:

If you are at or above the averages, you stand a fair chance.
My GPA is a 96.9 (my school calculates it out of 100. I haven’t taken SAT, and don’t plan to. However, I will be taking two SAT subject tests at the end of the month.
Thank you Gumbymom! I’m just worried that I am at the lower end of the range and since my bass won’t help set me apart much, I won’t have anything that really sets me apart in the application process.
For those looking to get “Chanced”, I suggest reading an excellent thread on the topic from the beginning…
I also suggest reading through the following very helpful insider’s guide to USC admissions…
