You may look at my gpa and say that it is low, but that doesn't tell the full story. Freshman: my grandma passed away, Sophomore: 2 grandma, 1 aunt passed away in 2 weeks. My entire life i lived with my autistic elder brother. He was luck enough to get into a special program for students with disabilities at TCNJ, but he wilted under the pressure. He would have several mood swings, alternating between violence and verbal abuse. Several nights during junior year he would wake up and attack me while im studying or sleeping. I still love him, even though it hurt my performance, but I am willing to put in all my effort in college. His disability gives my life purpose to take care of him, and my intended major meaning (neuroscience).

As you said the GPA is low, but it is relatively inconsistent with your test scores (SAT and APs), which is a very good thing for you. These test scores should help outweigh your GPA but the GPA will still count. Even though you had some tough times, sorry for your many losses, GPA is still a strong indicator so the college has to give it some weight. The club side of things look good and so does the community service. I would say your chances could range anywhere from 65-80% based on the strength of essays and recommendations. You could probably write a great essay about your brother and your intended major so my only advice would be to start very early on essays (during the summer) as it makes everything a lot less stressful. Good luck! Hope to see you at Hopkins in two years.

Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it! Good luck to you as well!

I was already accepted and I will be a freshman this fall, but thanks for the luck anyway!
