I'm a B student with a 3.2 gpa and 30 ACT. My extracurricular activities are not very impressive, and I have only one leadership position. The only thing that might help is my geographical location, and no one has applied to reed in at least 5 years. I'm also around the top 20% of my class. I don't think I have a chance, but I would like to apply to one super reach for fun. One of my parents lectures at the University of Chicago, so would I have a better chance applying there? Thanks for your feedback

How much do you want to go there?

Reed is a school that takes interest very seriously. In their supplement, they give you a chance to explain why you want to be there, and you can use that space to make a sincere, convincing argument.

If you have been challenging yourself, you shouldn’t have a whole lot to worry about gradewise. And leadership isn’t the only thing that matters in extra-curriculars, I’d go so far as to say that passion counts for more than leadership. Also, where are you geographically from? And how large and how competitive is your school?
