Do I have better chances?

Hi, I’m applying to Boston College and wanted to know if I have a higher chance to get in because my sister graduated from BC? I am in the top 10% of my class and have solid extra curricular activities.

What are your ACT/SAT scores, and how rigorous in your curriculum?

Having familial connections can never hurt. If you were objectively compared to an equivalent applicant, across which all other comparables are the same, they would likely choose the one with prior connections to the school (like a sibling alum), as that gives a better chance of a broader family relationship with the school, which betters chances of donations. If you get in, however, it won’t be likely that this factor would be the tipping point, to the best of my knowledge.
