Do I need to better my ECs for admission as a CS or Physics (Major) undergrad (International) ??????
Please can anyone help i know very little about this
Look have a really good list of ECs.
I think, however, your list of schools needs to be improved/expanded.
Internationals students tend to focus on the schools EVERYONE has heard of.
However, the schools you are looking at (esp. Berkely, Harvard, Yale, Stanford) are EXTREME stretches - even for the MOST perfect student.
Have you researched how many students from your country those schools take each year? I guarantee it is a very small number. Even for the MOST qualified, MOST perfect, MOST amazing student - those schools are extreme reaches.
If you only have schools like that on your list - you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
Do a better search (there are lots of online colllege search tools). Expand to schools that you may not have heard of yet. Do your research.
Good luck.
I’ve kept UIUC and GeorgiaTech. So can you chance me for these ??
No I can’t - you can look up the admissions rate for those schools and figure it out easily.
Doesn’t makes sense to have a list that is totally dominated by schools that are a FAR REACH for every single student (except Nobel prize winners and Olympic atheletes - maybe.)
Your list needs to be balanced. For example -
A few HIGH REACHES - basically just for fun.
A number of “matches” - that are matches for admission and for financial purposes.
A number of “safeties” - that you are virtually guaranteed admission to, that you would be happy to attend, that are also financially perfect.
You need to focus MORE on the matches and LESS on the dream schools - if you truely want to study in the US.
What country are you in?
India
All the schools listed are extremely selective, even more so for internationals, so you’ll need to broaden you school search a little.
Be sure when you look up acceptance rates, you look for international ones. In 2016, GaTech had an overall acceptance rate of 26% but an international one of 9%.
