I have already filled out and submitted the FAFSA, however, one of the colleges that I have been accepted to seems to recommend the CSS as well to provide a more detailed report on how they personally can determine need-based aid. I have looked through the financial aid section of the account and it seems that the just the FAFSA Is fine. Although I most likely will not receive any money, is it still worth it? I also believe that the deadline for 2018-19 is still open, although correct me if I am wrong.
Does the college say that CSS Profile is required to get any financial aid from the college? Does the college’s net price calculator suggest that you may get financial aid from the college? If so, then you need to do it for that college.
All this stuff, including any deadline, is dependent on what the individual school requires. Unless you tell us what school this is, we’re only guessing. I’ve never heard of the Profile being “recommended” as opposed to required or not required, for those asking for institutional need-based aid.
It’s Elon University, and after a closer look it appears that they require the CSS if I want aid from the school itself, other than federal aid from the FAFSA.
