Do I need to take the SAT with writing if I already took ACT with writing?

Hey! I just took the ACT with writing and got a 34 composite, with writing pending. Assuming my writing score is good, is it necessary to take the SAT with writing? I also want to retake the ACT to get a better score to get into Columbia, so would I need to retake the writing? Thank you

Columbia does not require the Writing section for the SAT or ACT. Other schools you mak be interested in applying might so check with them. Many schools superscore the ACT so if you take the ACT again in order to get a better score and need the Writing section you will need to take it again.

Lots of kids take both the SAT and ACT as they seem to do better on one than the other. That being said an ACT 34 is high enough for any school and will not be the reason you weren’t admitted so it’s probably better that you spend time doing something else to enhance your application rather than studying for standardized tests.

edit to add: If you really want to study for standardize test then pick 2 SAT Subject tests related to your intended area of study and take those instead.
