SAT: 1900
GPA: 4.0. My school gives officially gpa on a 100 point scale, which for me is 97.5.
SAT II: I took Biology and Math 2. I haven't received the scores back yet. I think I did okay on them though.
Rank: 5 (may go up) out of 63
I have a full senior year courseloud. I'm taking mainly college level classes offered at my high school. English Comp, Principles of Bio, Calc, Gen Pysch. I'm also taking other HS courses.

ECs: I did as many as I could. My school is really, really small and does not offer many.
Art Guild, Yearbook, French Club, National Honor Society, Government Internship. I also
did Seminary.

Work: I worked at the same job since I was a sophomore in High School.

Awards: Honor Roll, National Honor Society. This is about all my school offers.

Ethnicity and Gender: White Male

School: really small school in rural New York

Rec: I have one good one, and I think one really, really good one.

Essay: I talked about how struggles in my life have made me stronger. I talked about my mother abandoning me, my sister being diagnosed with cancer, and how growing up without my mother and father made me more mature and taught me that I can be more than my family was and how I want to bring honor to my family. I worded it a lot better though.

It's tough when I look at what other student's have and my school doesn't even offer anything like that. But basically, what are my chances for Columbia? NYU? Cornell? Should I even bother applying?

Don’t listen to the above post. Although SAT scores are very important, they ironically can’t make or break you. If you have a low score (which you do for Columbia), they will go to your awards and ECs to see if you’re an involved, interesting, and capable person. They will take into account the caliber and offerings of your school and your location. Your essay is the best thing you have, and if you were unique enough in it, you still stand a chance my friend.

My opinion is somewhere between gfortran and columbiafan’s… though I was taken aback by your SAT scores. Still, I’ve seen some with (marginally) lower scores get in. Because you’re at a smaller school with fewer opportunities, you may get a pass on some of these things, but if Columbia doesn’t see it that way, it might end up being a long shot. If your essay is good, you have a better shot. NYU, of course, will be slightly easier.

You should take a look at this year’s “ED results” thread. A lot of SAT 1800s got in. But maybe they’re athletes or something. But what’s more important, you should apply! Show them your passion, uniqueness, etc. If you don’t apply, you don’t even have a chance.
