Hi everyone,
I really like BU and was wondering if you would take the time to give me some thoughts on if it is a realistic option for me. I would plan on applying to the CAS for physics or possibly the physics education dual degree. Here are my stats as of junior year:
GPA (Weighted): 4.79
GPA (Unweighted): 4.00
SAT (Old Version)
Writing: 680
Reading: 640
Math: 660
Composite: 1980
11th grade schedule:
AP Language & Composition
AP Physics 1
AP Psychology
Math Analysis & Trigonometry H
Japanese H
US History H
12th grade schedule:
AP E&M
AP Calculus BC
AP US Government
British Literature H
Computer Science H
Japanese H
Keep in mind, APs are only offered during 11th and 12th grade at my school.
ECs:
4 year varsity crew (Coxswain) - this runs fall, spring, and winter
Learn to row mentor
Tutor 4th and 5th graders at inner city school in math and reading
Principals advisory (discuss school issues and ideas for improvement with faculty)
NHS in 12th grade (probably)
10th grade and 11th grade neuroscience lab research position (I might get my name on a paper this summer, maybe)
Video production work for local non-profit organization
Some volunteer work at local cancer center
I’d assume my recommendations and essays to be top notch.
I personally feel like I am a good fit, but I am really concerned about my test scores. I know that they are not bad, but are not great by any means. I have such a busy summer and do not feel confident that I can get them up with limited time and materials. I come from a notable and well known high school so I am hoping that my GPA and grades demonstrate high achievement and academic capability.
Thank you so much for your thoughts.
