Do I still need to pass a class if that class doesn't transfer to my university?

Hi everyone.

So I am a community college right now in SoCal taking a couple courses: Allied Health 010, and Medical Terminology. These classes were pre-reqs for a medical assisting (2 year) certificate program at my school. I checked ASSIST and these classes are not transferring to the CSU system because there’s no class equivalent. Recently, I changed my mind and applied to CSU Long Beach & Fullerton. I’m at a D in both classes.

Does it matter if I fail both classes with a D if they’re not even gonna transfer?

your D’s might get your transfer application rescinded.
Either improve your grades or drop the classes.

Try to drop them or take them pass/fail (and pass) so your GPA and transcript look better.

Yes it matters. They look at all your grades.

Both of them will be on your academic record forever. Either pull those grades up, or drop them so that you have a W instead of a D or F.

Withdrawing from a class that is required for a major that you have changed is a reasonable decision to make. However, if you are receiving financial aid, make certain that dropping the class(es) won’t affect that.

Yes, colleges have the right to rescind your acceptance if your academics drop. Failing a class or even getting a D could become a problem.
