do international journalism students get job offers after masters in US

My profile:
English literature graduate
Currently working as a content writer
Pursuing diploma in broadcast journalism (evening classes)

My questions:
1) what are the top five j schools in US? I hear about northwestern... Mizzou... Columbia.. What about Stanford.. Upenn... Aren't they quite prestigious universities?
2) I spoke to the dean at Columbia and she said the jobs are scarce and the possibility of being hiring of international candidates is near impossible. Is it true?
3) what are the average salary of entry level journalists and how difficult is it to get a job?
Thanks in advance. :)
