Make nearly as much as their US counterparts?
Work nearly as many hours?

No

Yes

aj16, what makes you qualified to answer this question?

Yes, bankers outside the US (London/Hong Kong) make the same as bankers in the US.
The generalization is that London bankers work less than those in the US, while HK bankers work more. How do I know? I’ve been in both the US and abroad.

How about countries with relatively less wealth?

Pay is about the same at the bottom of the pyramid in Canada, but it’s significantly less at the top of the ladder compared to U.S. BB’s. Still, there are plenty of 10 million dollar houses in Toronto, many occupied by finance ppl.

Some of the wealthiest folk in Canada are in IM, particularly commodity funds. Most people in IB focus on the energy and mining sectors, so it’s a good place to learn.
