Do investors care where I go to college? (startups)

I am going to be attending my state flagship university. Its nothing prestigious. But if I were to begin a start up, would this be a handicap?

No VC is going to invest in a 22 year old, period. It’s all about your work experience and accomplishments, of which you have none.

But no, it’s not a handicap at all.

Of course, but thanks for the reassurance. I just didn’t want it to be a handicap later down the line when I do decide to.

Hm, of course VCs are going to invest in 22 year olds, if there’s money to be made. After all, Y combinator (the world’s most prestigious startup accelerator) was founded for this reason: young people had a hard time getting money. Today, thanks to Facebook, Twitter and the like, we have tons of accelerators where you can get seed funding (and also VCs lurking around). Unfortunately, it seems that choice of school is more and more important in the startup circles (am talking about SF startup circles here, it’s somewhat a ‘bubble’). But by no means is it impossible, it’s really up to you - whom you network with, what you can show them (your accomplishments, bcs VCs want to get their money back with a return, obviously, and as little risk as possible) and where the startup is going.
