About how many if you know? Is the chance of me making it to Northeastern in Boston less because I am from CA?

No. I wouldn't think so.

NEU is working hard to become a nationally recognized school so geographic location is an important factor in admissions and part of their action plan is to increase their geographic distribution from other parts of the country while decreasing numbers from MA/New England. From numbers I have seen, their numbers are still above their goal for admitted students from MA/New England; according to their action plan, their goal is about 6% for the west but last year's fact book indicates that currently about 5% of the students are from the west, so being from California is still a plus for students who otherwise fit the profile they are looking for.

There were about 250 senior who graduated this year and are attending 4 year colleges from out suburban Los Angeles high school. I don't know if any applied to Northeastern, but none are attending. Nor did any attend in 2005 or 2006.

To put into context, each year about 7 students attend CHYMPS, about 15 each to Berkeley and UCLA. Zero for Northwestern too, which I notice b/c my niece is there out of a private school in LA.
