Do most merit aid offers come with the acceptance...

or shortly thereafter?

Just based on my son's experience one year ago: rolling admission, the offers came with the acceptance, sometimes with an increase afterwards; private schools, where the awards are not formula-based, came either well after acceptance (for early action admit) or a few weeks before (for regular decision admit).

No universal approach. Call the schools and ask.

"No universal approach. Call the schools and ask."

That's on the mark. In my daughter's case she received her merit awards in the same envelopes that contained her acceptance (early action).

DS applied regular decision and has received merit offers immediately after acceptance and way before acceptance. I think it depends on the school and it depends on how much they want you - one school sent him an acceptance and merit offer six weeks before the date we were told to expect acceptance decisions, others said no news until April!

One school sent the merit with, one sent it one week after, and one did both - general merit with acceptance and kept upping it with named scholarships for the next several weeks.

There is no standard.
