We had a commencement speaker when I graduated from high school many decades ago. This was a rural high school in central Oregon, and the speaker was the TV weatherman from the Portland TV station.
He gave a good speech full of amusing anecdotes. He said that off camera people often try to make the on-camera people break up and laugh during live segments. For example he said that when he is standing in front of the big weather map he is shown on TV only from the waist up. So once the director or somebody crawled out on his hands and knees during that segment and rolled the weatherman’s pant legs up to his knees - all the while he had to stand there and keep talking about the weather with a straight face.
