Hey guys, I had a question about MIT.

It would definitely be a school that I would like to go to, but I know that my GPA etc. are pretty low for a school of this caliber. To give some stats:

GPA: 3.5 unweighted/4.0 weighted (only 10th and 11th grade) --> HUGE, HUGE upward trend however

Counting freshman year my unweighted would be 3.57 (10th grade was a really really bad year..)

AP classes taken:

AP Physics - 5
AP US History - 5
AP Calculus B/C - 5

AP Chemistry - 4
AP Gov/Econ - 5
AP Statistics - 5

SAT: 2210 (again, I feel this is low for a school like MIT)
SAT 2s: Math - 750, Physics - 750

Clubs:

small club I was an officer of - 3-4 years

Math and Science club - 2 years

Physics and Astronomy club - 2 years

editor of a magazine (for a non profit organization)

The problem is that my sophomore year was really, really bad (I actually ended up getting a few Cs... =/). Junior year had a huge upward trend though.

So I was wondering.. do sports help at all with the admissions process at MIT then? I run cross country/track, and I'm pretty sure my PRs would be able to get me onto any D3 school. I would also like to continue running in college; would being able to run on the team/contribute in that way help at all with the admissions process (as a buffer for the grades..)? Has anyone had any experience with sports, etc.? Thanks a lot.
