I used to be addicted to computer games in middle and high school. After sophomore year I gave them away and have been clean ever since then.

Random question: Did the people who flame out because of computer games not have access to them before coming to Caltech? I have a theory that if parents let their kids play such games as children, they'll get it out of their system and them won't be addicted to them in college.

EDIT: That should say "sophomore year in high school." I'm a prefrosh right now.

No, not really. In my opinion, the few people I know who flamed "because" of computer games didn't really do so for that reason. I think people use it as an escape, and when some people get overwhelmed by the workload, the retreat too far into the video games. I really think flaming has to do more with stress and how you deal with it than anything else.

not tournaments but there are I think a couple of people that have sets. I was going to play lots of guitar hero, but then I bought a guitar. I have a fried who over the summer after work would go to the best buy (it's 3 miles away from campus) and just play guitar hero at the kiosk there.
