Do the top universities in the US like history students?

I have heard this saying that the top US universities like history students. Is it the truth or it just a myth?

I am currently going on to IB program and choosing subject. I'm definitely choosing English A SL, Chinese A SL, Biology HL, Chemistry HL, Maths HL.

But I dun know for humanities if I should choose Eco HL or history HL (yes I'm doing four HLs).

I mean if I choose economics than all of my subjects are pretty scientific, but I heard it is pretty easy. Ironically, HL is easier than SL.

but if I do history, I add a variety in my subject as it is definitely the most humanity out of all the humanities. And I heard US universities also like students with a variety in their subjects. The only problem is I'm a second language speaker so although I'm pretty good at English I doubt if I'll be getting a secure 7.

So based on my situation, wut do u guys suggest?

They like all sorts of students, there’s no explicit preference for history students. It’s good to have variety, but it’s more important to take the most challenging schedule you can. I think you’ll be fine taking either Econ or History.
