Can I apply to Yale's restrictive early action and U Mich's early response at the same time? (if I submit both application before Nov.1st?)
Thank you!

I don't think so... Yale's EA is Single-Choice, so I think you can only do the one.

Nope, i think the agreement that you sign with Yale explicitly says that you're not allowed to participate in any other form of early admission/decision. I think it's like ED without the bind.
Don't take my word for it though!

They don't conflict. Yale allows you to apply to rolling state programs, and accepts UMich's Early Notification as part of its rolling program. As you might know, the first round of UMich decisions were released this past week and many more will be released before the early notification "date". I called in during the summer and they confirmed this.

Thanx for all your replies!
To pianista: Which school did you call? Yale or U Mich?

Yale, UMich obviously would have no problem with it. Sorry I didn't make it clear earlier. :)

I applied to Yale SCEA and Penn State Rolling and called the Yale office. They said it was fine.

I applied to Stanford SCEA yesterday and had already applied to Michigan about 5 weeks ago. According to my college counselor, Michigan is rolling so I'm fine, and you are too.

On the other hand, I heard that Stanford tightened restrictions this year and that someone from the Stanford forum was told that he had to pull out his UMich application. IDK. Just something my friend told me about.

This has been discussed extensively on the Yale forum, but is confusing to many, even an AO from Yale got it wrong!! You can definitely apply to UMichigan and Yale SCEA:

Early Action FAQ | Application to Yale College | Freshmen | Office of Undergraduate Admissions

"If you are an applicant to Yale under the Single Choice Early Action program, you may not apply to any early admissions program that notifies candidates before January 1, whether or not that program is binding. However, you may apply to another college's early notification program under certain conditions. First, you may apply to a public university's "rolling" admission program if the program is non-binding (meaning that you have until May 1 to respond)"

Thx everyone!
Really great help :)
