Do They Count Freshmen Year?

I got a 2.6 for my freshmen year but now (as a junior) i have a 3.9. Even though I'm doing well now that 2.6 is bringing down my cumulative GPA by A LOT! Do they consider freshmen year? If my counselor writes a note will that help?

yes they do consider freshman year..but it isn't as important as your 10-11 and even 12 years. Have the counselor mention it in his/her rec. An upward trend, that you have, looks nice to admissions.

Yeah, colleges love to see that you improve throughout high school. I didn't have your problem, but a few of my friends did, and colleges understand that sometimes the transition from junior high to high school can be a rough one for some people. As long as you show that you care about your studies and that you're willing to work to improve, USC should recognize your efforts.

Some colleges (not sure about USC) just look at your freshman GPA and only factor 10-12. But the way you're standing now, you look fine!
