Do they look at your grade 10 marks?

Hello, I wish to go to MIT or Caltech, I was wondering if they look at your grade 10 mark (I live in Canada)?

yes they do

How important is it? Because I didn't have a very good mark (GPA only 3.5), what if I get straight A's this year and in grade 12, will I have a chance?

Most schools are looking for an upward trend, hopes that you are taking the most rigerous courses your school fferes and that you are doing well in those courses. Regarding your sophomore grades, what is done is done all you can do is focus on moving forward.

Hmmmm... YOu're gonna need to get straight As in Junior year and Senior year. You need to demonstrate solid performance throughout your high school career, and unfortunately, my impression is that upward trend is generally very effective for those 'sub' ivy schools (as in Tufts, and friends).

Yes, just focus on moving up and have outstanding ECs. Beside, you're from Canada!
