Do UC's Check all past schools you've attended?

i wasn't sure what i wanted to do when i first started at a state school, unfortunately it reflected poorly in my grades, however, now i know and i really want to go to berkeley. so i was thinking about leaving my state school, and getting my transcripts from my highschool and going to my local cc, then using that to apply. is there any way they could find out about it? and if so what are my chances? please help. seriously.

You’re in control of what you report on the UC transfer application as well as the transcripts you send over. There’s no way they’re going to “find” that you attended a past university if you don’t mention it in the application. However, there will be a gap in your education that the application system will automatically recognize if you don’t indicate that you were enrolled anywhere, if you don’t report that you attended the state school you mentioned. In that case there will be a portion on the application that will ask you to explain that gap from high school to when you enrolled at a CC, I’m sure you can think of a decent excuse. To further elaborate you could probably also write about it in your personal statement and it shouldn’t be an issue. Just be sure to keep your grades up when you enroll at a CC, you’re going to need a very high GPA to get into Berkeley as a transfer.

i know i need i good gpa, but i’ve been doing some research for transfering, and i guess there is this student clearinghouse system that the schools use to get ahold of ALL your transcripts? i don’t want to risk it, but i’ve never wanted anything more.

If you applied for aid before there will be a record of it and the UCs will find out. They do use the Student Clearinghouse.

Aid meaning financial aid? And if they do find out then what would the risks be?

They will certainly reject you. By providing false information, and that omission would be included, you would be trying to gain admission fraudulently. If it were found out after admission you could be dismissed. If it were found out after graduation, you could have your diploma cancelled. Not a good plan.

Edit to add: wendiethepooh, why did you bring back a 4 year old thread? Please make your own thread with your own questions.

Why can’t I…? I’m having this problem also and was just wondering what he meant by aid… that was it.

y’all do realize that this is a four-year old post that you are responding to???

Please don’t resurrect old threads. Start a new one if you have a question. I am closing this thread.
