I am an International Student admitted into 2 universities so far.
Will I get a hard copy of my notice of admission from the university in the coming weeks?
I know all US Universities do that. Do UK Unis also send it?

Typically, yes, by post. Once you have heard from all your universities on UCAS (whether or not you have heard by post), you will have 1-5 weeks to firm one university and decline the other offers. If your first choice place is a conditional offer you can choose a second uni as your ‘insurance’ (typically one for which you have either an unconditional offer, or one whose conditions you are sure you will meet).
After the offer letter nothing happens until August, when the UK students get their results and can firm their offers. That’s when you will get all the welcome stuff.
Okay
So, I’ll receive it only in August, after making the final university selection.
US unis, though, always send out acceptance letters to each admitted applicant, whether he/she chooses to enroll or not.
Sorry, you misunderstood. As far as I know, all the unis do send acceptance letters through the post shortly after the decision is made. They don’t necessarily come quickly though.
What I was saying is that the (paper) acceptance letter from the university is separate from the UCAS process, so depending on where you live (ie, snail mail delivery time- the UK unis assume that it will arrive in 1-2 days, as they would if you lived in the UK) and when all your unis give you their offers by email, you could need to firm on UCAS before you have the physical acceptance letter in your hand. The deadline to firm on UCAS is more important than having the physical letter (well, if you are planning on attending, not just collecting acceptance letters!).
Once you have ‘firmed’ your college, you don’t typically get anything until the ‘welcome’ stuff comes in August- American students who have unconditional offers are often impatient to get more information, but the unis wait and do all the students at the same time. If you choose a university where housing is likely to be scarce (anything in a city), however, I wouldn’t wait for the welcome stuff- I would go start doing homework on the website about the housing set up. For most unis It is NOT like a US uni where you just get assigned a dorm room, and the choices get picked over early (a lot of people will book accommodation based on their conditional offers).
Thank you for the reply @collegemom3717
I understand that the letter may come quite late in the process. Probably after May.
But, for the university that accepted me in late jan, should I expect a paper admission letter delivered to my home in the coming few weeks?
I would imagine so.
Some do, some don’t. Got stuff from KCL and St And so far but none others by mail.
@ssswims
Which country do you live in?
Hey just thought I’d weigh in. I’m from the UK and applied to : Durham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Exeter, and Bristol, and have offers from all of them now. The only one I actually got a physical posted ‘acceptance letter’ from was Cambridge, the rest were just done through email/UCAS
US
Some unis but not all send out letters with brochures with information on acommodation/how to pay tution/firming or insuring etc. I got letters from UCL and Edinburgh but not Durham
I’m from Hungary. I have four offers so far (still waiting for Bristol), and two universities (York & Leeds) confirmed by offer via mail, while the two others just sent me emails (Lancaster & Newcastle). Hope this helps.
