Do Yale students get to know profs, and vice versa?

Do students at Yale often build good relationships with their professors -- really get to know them, and vice versa? I wonder if that sort of personal connection and mentoring is less likely at a school like Yale where everyone is special and thus no one is special, if you know what I mean.

Thanks in advance for any insights from anyone (student or parent) who can speak to this.

Depends on the student/prof/class.

D1 got to know profs well in small seminars and writing workshops, not so much in larger science classes. However, she does not have the most (or least) outgoing personality, so YMMV.

Yes, so long as you’re willing to put in the effort. For good reason, rarely will a professor ever seek out a student.
