Do you ever like people more when they make u feel better about yourself?

Let's be honest here.

Like, sometimes, I'll actually really like the dumbest person in a group precisely for this reason (when I'm feeling insecure about my intelligence, anyways).

And I know that a lot of people might consider this a bad thing. But is it really bad? If we go by a consequentialist interpretation of things, no one really loses out from this. Honestly, this often makes people more sympathetic to weaker people than they otherwise would be.

And I especially appreciate it in competitions, especially competitions where there's only 1 winner. The weaker players often make it more interesting by saying interesting things, and making me not feel so bad over staying in the game even when I'm losing (so hey, I'm losing, but at least someone weaker than me is still in). Plus, weaker players are usually more amicable anyways (because they have to be amicable to survive).

I mean, I sometimes feel bad since I'll never be valued for my expertise in many domains. But it certainly makes me feel better if someone appreciates me for my n00biness.
