Do you fear death?

Do you fear death?
The Witch King of Angmar asks Eowyn this in ROTK.
Anyway, I guess I do.

DO you like the sound of an afterlife? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you think an eternal afterlife would be boring?
I don’t know if I like the sound of an afterlife, but I undoubtedly believe in one. This is what I wrote on that “What Do you think happens when we die” thread a while back:

What would you like to accomplish before you die?
Oh a lot of things. I would like reach 95+, have traveled, learned languages, been married + had children, been happy. Outside of the personal sphere, I would like to have worked towards reform in education.

What is the worst way you think you could die?
Suddenly. I don’t want to be ripped from anyone’s life, even if it means I have to suffer for a while.

Do you fear becoming bald.
No. It doesn’t happen to girls too often. I fear becoming blind and deaf though, since my mother is pretty much deaf (as is her sister and as are several of her relatives) my father has a detached retina, and my grandmother had glaucoma.

^That is a scary thought. I can’t imagine being blind. It would do me in, I think. Not being deaf, though, but I would regret not being able to hear certain things while being glad not to hear others.

But not seeing…ugh.

I agree with Alzheimer’s. My mother works with Alzheimer patients every day and my granddad has it. Pretty terrible.

i’m curious as to what happens after death. can we still see or is just pitch black like being asleep? it’d be nice to have an afterlife, especially one where we could have sex whenever we wanted

Well, there are two options for death:

 1. Nothing.
 2. An after life.

I’m not sure if I like the ‘nothing’, but I can’t really say I’m afraid of it. My view is that if there is nothing and we just cease to exist, why be afraid? It’s not like we’ll be around to experience said nothingness. It wouldn’t matter because we’d be dead.

I would kind of like an afterlife, though. It makes things interesting. Otherwise this whole things would feel like one big dream.

1) it’s hard to fear death when you’re suicidal
2) afterlife sounds awesome or horrifying depending on which one i go to. i don’t believe in it though
3) i’d like to finish my incompletes, hug a celebrity, and pee on the sidewalk at school. all feasible goals
4) self-immolation, or the classic “piano wire” suicide whose details may not be appropriate for this forum
5) not really. i’m gonna die way before then anyhow

How can Alzheimer’s be the worst death? It might be the worse death for your friends and family but to the victim it is fine. Not like they are in pain or anything.

Alzheimer’s is not a pretty thing. How bad is if you don’t know how to turn on and off the TV and change the channel? I went to a nursing home (the Alzheimer’s wing), and while some people where playing games with others, I found many sitting in front of a TV with a blank expression. I doubt any of them knew what was going on. Of course, people with Alzheimer’s can have fun. The nursing home has activities every day, and they do take trips. However, as Alzheimer’s progresses peoples minds just go, and they can’t remember anything at all. This reminds me of the death penalty thread, and I think it can be compared to being locked in prison for life, sort of. I wouldn’t see a point when you are just there, blank minded, and can’t remember anything.

I would rather die from a heart attack that lasts and hour or so then live with Alzheimer’s for years and years and years.

As for cancer and other long lasting diseases, I think those would be worse than Alzheimer’s. I haven’t had either, so I wouldn’t know.

LOL @ everyone’s numbers going 1 2 3 5 4

I’m not afraid of death, I’m excited for it. I think that’s a little messed up. I want to live my life, but I’m very curious do know what happens when you die. Does anybody feel the same way? Or am I just crazy?

Nope. I have technically already died, flat-lined due to an illness. Had what most people call an out-of-body experience. Didn’t hurt, didn’t do anything. I do not fear death, I see it as a natural progression of life. I believe when you die, that your spirit goes on to protect your descendants and that your soul is reborn into another body with another spirit.

YES. But I probably do fear dying more. I don’t like suffering. I don’t think I really ~comprehend~ what death is though… intellectually but not really.

I wish I didn’t believe in an afterlife, because if I absolutely completely thought I would die and that would be the end of it, then I would make a lot more of my life. Do a lot of crazy things. ;P

No idea. Be truly happy. Fall in love. Be powerful–at least know that feeling.

Of some disgusting disease.

Women don’t go bald, but thinning hair sounds troublesome. My hair is extremely thick though, so I think I’d be grateful for thinner hair. At least in the beginning.

Do you fear death?
Not now. Perhaps if someone pointed a gun at me I might be. Not sure.

DO you like the sound of an afterlife? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you think an eternal afterlife would be boring?
I think so, but I might prefer that there isn’t one - heaven is cool, but hell, ah, not so much.
I don’t disbelieve it, but I doubt it.
No

What would you like to accomplish before you die?
Nothing really. I mean I would like to accomplish a lot, but if I die right now, I wouldn’t be very upset about not accomplishing something.

What is the worst way you think you could die?
Anything slow and painful.

Do you fear becoming bald.
Wigs.

I like the numbering, btw.

1: Yes. As do all humans. It’s how we’re wired. But I hope I wouldn’t allow that fear to prevent me from doing my job.

2: Yes. I believe that when Jesus said their was an afterlife, he was telling the truth. I don’t think I would get bored. After all, if there was nothing more important to do, I could finally learn to juggle!

3: Get married, raise a family, and bring more people to Christ.

5: IDK. There are a lot of bad ways to go.

4: I better not, since my dad, both grandfathers, both uncles, and basically every other male relative did.

Do you fear death
Yes, but I don’t fear death if it comes from the end of the world/humanity

DO you like the sound of an afterlife? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you think an eternal afterlife would be boring?
Yes I like the sound, yes I believe, no I don’t think it would be boring. I think it would be perfect.

What would you like to accomplish before you die?
Something that meets the standards of WP:N. Y’know, something awesome. So I could be remembered for ages. To be honest, I’d like to give birth to a child who was of a higher sentience quotient than humanity and would be worshiped as a deity, but that’s sacrilegious and probably won’t happen.

What is the worst way you think you could die?
Are we talking about for the people who love me, or for me? If the former: suddenly. If the latter: drowning, maybe. I’d say immolation, but I find it poetic.

Do you fear becoming bald.
No, but that’s because I’m not really worried about it. If I were going bald, I’d probs cry.

Side note! Please tell me that someone else heard the Witch king of Angmar, head of the Nazgûl, saying “Do you fear death?” while reading the title!

ETA: woah, I already did this. Le sigh.

^ I thought the quote was “Do you not know death when you see it?”

Do you fear death? Yes, I’m afraid of death in the context of it being from a disease or someone injuring me internally. I’d be happy to know that I go peacefully and quietly. I just need another 50 or 60 years before that happens though.

DO you like the sound of an afterlife? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you think an eternal afterlife would be boring? The sound of it is nice, I don’t really believe in one, but it could be cool. An eternal afterlife allows you to explore every end of the spectrum, I believe.

What would you like to accomplish before you die? Have a family with kids, grand kids, make a name for myself, not be controlled by government power. :</li>

What is the worst way you think you could die? Torture, Drowning, getting shot in places that you don’t die from, and then being shot and killed instantly.

Do you fear becoming bald? My dad is bald, my brother is losing hair, my mom even has a receding hairline and I’m 15 and I see hairs fall out of my head at least 5 times an hour. I don’t fear it, I’m rather prepared for it. HAIR CLUB FOR MEN, HERE I COME!

I fear it if it’s painful, but I could deal if it happened (like I’d have a choice lol). I’d prefer it to happen when I’m old, though.

No, no, yes. I believe the promise of an amazing afterlife is the extreme bribe for many religions.

College/Grad school, work, family, the usual.

Anything painful. I’m a fan of one of those “oh he/she died in their sleep.”

Haha I’ve got way too much hair to go bald.

Why should you? Its going to happen to everyone and you just have to learn to accept that your time is going to come.

Yea.

It doesn’t matter what I accomplish, as long as I am happy what I am accomplishing.

Dieing before my parents

Nope

Do you fear death

DO you like the sound of an afterlife? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you think an eternal afterlife would be boring?

What would you like to accomplish before you die?

What is the worst way you think you could die?

Do you fear becoming bald.

No. Why be afraid of something that is inevitable?

Hell yeah i like the sound of it. I never thought about it too much, but i believe in some sort of afterlife. No idea

TBA- probably a family and kids

No i don’t fear becoming bald

Drowning

Do you fear death Np

DO you like the sound of an afterlife? Do you believe in an afterlife? Do you think an eternal afterlife would be boring? No. Id rather have rebirth. Yes.

What would you like to accomplish before you die? I would like to see life outside of earth

What is the worst way you think you could die? Drowning in boiling acid.

Do you fear becoming bald. No. I fear grey hair.
