I'm not sure if I type faster than I write. Do you guys type faster than write? And I heard it's somewhat easier to remember if you hand write the notes

I remember better when I handwrite, but I have a professor who talks so fast that I can’t keep up. For that one class, I type my notes- for the others, I handwrite.

This question has been asked so many times the past few months…

I can type as fast as people talk, but I remember more if I write. So, I compromise: I write down notes during class, and then retype them when I get home if possible (such as for humanities classes). It allows me to review my notes and have them in multiple places.

I type really fast but just like above poster, I remember better if I write.

I usually type up my own notes or print out the powerpoints for the class and jot important things down in class as the teacher lectures.

Based on the set up of my classes, typing notes would be a waste of time. The only classes I take notes in are Calculus and Physics. No computer necessary. Even if I did have a lecture based class I would hand write notes.

I never use a computer to take or write notes. I’m a math/stats major so most of my note taking is with a pen or pencil.

I type notes… And surprisingly I don’t get distracted like I thought I would. I type 10x faster than I write so it works better for me.

Anything with a lot of diagramming or math makes typing far slower than just writing down on paper.

I find typing math fairly slow unless you’re proficient with LaTeX commands. Even then, I can handwrite faster than I can typeset. However, I typically typeset problem sets and papers.

Are most professors OK with it? I can type much faster than I can write by hand, but wouldn’t want to use a computer for math or engineering - for subjects like humanities, it shouldn’t be an issue.

The other thing is that I can probably organize my notes better.

I write my notes, I just prefer it to typing.

I do type way faster than I write. But having classes like Physics and Calculus it is basically pointless to have typed notes (unless you’re that good). If I had a large English class or history class I would be typing out my notes but nah.

What do you guys feel about tablet PCs for those subjects? (And OneNote)

I dont have a computer so hand writing.
I see people use tablets nowadays esp to draw a graph. (I only really take notes in my calculus class)

^I can’t even imagine making/using a graph on tablet. But then again I never even tried/have the necessary tablet for that.

^ lol they had a stylus for it.

I use an application called Evernote since it works on computers and mobile devices. Essentially, I have my typed notes wherever I am and I don’t have to carry anything.
