Do you have an ordering strategy in a restaurant?

I just got back from DC and had this exact dish days after the Bidens. I would def get it again and every time I go. Generally, I like when dh and I order different things so we can sample as much of a menu as possible, but I totally get why they both ordered the rigatoni. Heaven on Earth.

You can edit your link and remove everything after the word, “redhen.” The rest of the url tracks back to the Facebook link you grabbed it from.

I went ahead and edited for the OP.

We typically order different things but it depends if there is something super special that we both want (and don’t want to share ; )).

Least calories, least carbs. We rarely eat out anymore. When we do, it’s to socialize with friends. The food is incidental.

I can always find something to order when dining out. No strategy except looking at the menu and guessing.

I get what I want. H gets what he wants. Sometimes it’s the same thing, though not usually.

But like bed sheets/comforters… I DO NOT SHARE! DON’T TOUCH MY FOOD!

Yes, whatever is the easiest to perform “surgery” on. Like why we putting mayo and cheese on everything?

I started the whole “bunless” trend. Lettuce wrapped sandwiches? That was all me. (I’m kidding)

My husband is not a food sharer. Never ever. He also usually orders very basic food so it’s not something I would order.

But he ordered this bolognese at an Italian restaurant in Philly and when we go back, I’m sure we will order the same thing. It was delicious!

I do have a strategy, and it’s based on what I like to eat. I don’t eat anything from the water, so no seafood. I don’t eat veal (have you seen those crates they keep them in??!!). So I just look at the chicken, pork and beef dishes and choose from those items that have ingredients I like.

DH and I might swap a bite to taste the other’s, but not if he’s eating seafood.

If it is a restaurant that we have gone to multiple times, we order what we want. If it is a new restaurant, we’ll normally order different dishes to share, often 1 item will be more adventurous and the other “safer”.

I always check yelp for best reviews and always leave reviews as well

I order what I want but it bothers H and S if we order the same thing. I don’t get it. They will give me a hard time if I do, but I want to eat what I want to eat.

We rarely eat out but when we do we usually discuss before ordering and get different things so we can share and try a couple things.

There’s a lot I don’t/won’t/can’t eat, so we usually order different items. Husband knows I seldom finish entrees so he can have what I don’t finish if he wants to try it. We have shared bites from each other’s plate if we like both entrees. On rare occasion we both like the same starter, so we might duplicate. We usually share a dessert; normally my choice but he has veto power.

We never order the same things, we are both very adventurous eaters. When we were dating, he’d usually finish my meals, when we got married I’d take my leftovers home for the next day, unless we are out with the kids and then they can eat what I have left (I always have food left).

I normally have leftovers, but I are every single bit of that rigatoni and ordered more of the buttery bread to sop it all up!

H and I never have leftovers. And I guess we do share appetizers like bacon cheese fries or nachos or quesadillas. But entrees? Never! I also don’t even like when someone wants me to try something of theirs. Just no! And never ever ever touch my dessert. I might just stab you with a fork. Though usually we eat dessert at home and save the $$$.

Unless it is a fancy restaurant with tiny portions, we usually get two salads and split an entree and a dessert - we don’t eat desserts at home.

If we like something, it becomes our staple order, like 1/2 kanpachi at Mina’s. I had to  at the recent warmings we got from the waiters about the fish we ordered - it comes with a head and a tail! That’s how we always had it! I guess some faint at that sight.
